A little history of the band:

The band was originally formed under the name of `Toucan Choo' back in 2001 and consisted of seven Kent musicians. Founder members Kev (drums) still remains in the band with the other current members joining at various stages later, although Chris (Bass), Dave (guitar) & Stuart  (keys) have all been in the band since 2002.

The band also appeared as a Blues Brothers Tribute outfit called `Out of the Blue' along with 2 x Blues Bros frontmen and performed at a number of venues including castles, cruise liners and theatres.

The band changed it's name to the simpler version "The Choos" in 2009 to avoid confusion as another muscial outfit known as Toucan were around on the Kent music scene at the same time. As most of the band's fans used to refer to the band as `The Choos' this was the most obvious name to adopt without having to go for a brand new name.

Original Trumpet player Martin Fulcher unfortunately passed away after a short illness in May 2009 - for those of you who remember Martin why not take a quick look at the tribute video posted below. The band are pleased to say that the famous `69' sweatshirt is still resident in the rehearsal room at Pete's place!

At this time Trumpet player Tony`Tone the Bone' Dennis joined the line up as a permanent member of the band, having previously stood in for Martin when he was unable to play due to illness. Tony is still an important 3rd of the brass section.

The band increased it's line up to 8 members in January 2012 when Nick Kent & Sophie Tuck-Brown were invited to join. Not only was this the first time the band had consisted of eight members but this is also the first time that a female vocalist had been part of the band. Jonny McKenna then replaced Nick as male vocalist in Jan 2013.

The band then got even bigger in February 2013 when Trombone player Andy Pyke joined the line up to increase the sound of the brass section and take the line up to 9 musicians plus Ben Manuel our sound engineer which now gives us a nice round 10 people to create the full sound made by the band!

Early 2014 saw singer Johnny move on and the band took thier time finding a replacement - which proved to be worthwhile as singer Andy Benn joined the line up in Dec 2014, proving to be a perfect vocal match alongside Sophie.

Trombone Andy stepped aside full time was replaced with Alto sax player Rob King mid 2017, keeping the band as a 9 piece line up, then in early 2018 Pete the sax decided to move on a which point the very talented Helen Crocker joined the brass line up on tenor sax.
